Rural structures built on raised footings need protection from the damaging effects of excavating Wombats. They don't just undermine the footings but can also damage plumbing and electrical services as well, so it's also a safety thing . Physical Wombat barriers that restrict subfloor ventilation are not ideal, especially for a timber framed dwelling. Livestock control electric fence technology can be effectively and humanly used to control Wombat Infestation in subfloor situations plus allow full ventilation and access when required. Our system is the same as any other very common electric fence system used in Agriculture worldwide, ours is only tiny, tucked under the edge of the house at ground level about 300mm high. Wombats are only active at night so our system is automatically switched off during daylight hours. The actual duration of an electric fence pulse is only about 3/10,000 of a second long. The effect of touching the fence is startling but not dangerous otherwise it would be illegal. Wombats are also unharmed by the system and can only encourage the Wombat, to its benefit, to remain in its natural bush habitat away from people.
Our sophisticated Smoke alarms do more than help protect you from fire. At night you might notice the Alarms momentarily glow Green when you switch off the lights. That is the protection system doing a self diagnosis and reassuring you that all systems are OK before you go to sleep. Also the Smoke alarms will gently glow white at night when they detect movement. This is a safety feature to help you see at night and especially useful if there is a power cut.
